Service Mechanic (workshop and field) – rehabilitation equipment

About the job

A client based in Heerlen is looking for a service mechanic to work both in the workshop and at customers' locations. You work with rehabilitation equipment, such as wheelchairs, mobility scooters and adapted bicycles, helping people stay mobile and independent. No two days are the same: one day you are in the workshop, the next you drive to a customer in a company car.

What you'll do

• Prepare new rehabilitation aids for use (mobility scooters, manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, bicycles)
• Carry out repairs and maintenance in the workshop and at customers' homes
• Diagnose technical faults by asking the right questions and assessing the problem
• Pick up and deliver rehabilitation equipment and explain how to use it to the customer
• Prepare used equipment for reuse (technical and visual inspection)
• Drive a company car to fix breakdowns on location or at a customer's home

What we ask

• A background or thinking level equivalent to MBO (Dutch intermediate vocational education) in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, bicycle technology or automotive
• Experience in a similar role is preferred, or strong hands-on repair experience
• Category B driving licence
• Flexible and comfortable with varied work
• Good communication skills and the ability to solve problems

What we offer

• Full time, 40 hours a week
• A training programme to become an independent service mechanic (workshop and field)
• Salary from €2,600 to €3,600 gross per month, depending on knowledge and experience
• 30 days of leave, 8% vakantiegeld (holiday allowance, a statutory annual bonus paid on top of your salary in the Netherlands) and a 4% annual bonus
• On-call allowance (€185 per on-call week, plus extra pay for hours worked)
• 60% of pension contributions paid by the employer, plus additional benefits with tax advantages
