Security and Fire Safety Systems Installer

About the job

Do you want to start in a technical trade with no previous experience? As a safety and security systems installer, you learn the job by doing it. You work on installations in hospitals, schools and high-tech facilities in your region. Your projects combine construction and technology. Experienced colleagues guide you as you build up your technical knowledge. You help build reliable fire safety and security systems.

What you'll do

• Install and connect fire alarm systems and evacuation systems
• Install CCTV systems, access control systems and burglar alarms
• Lay cables and fit cameras, detectors, readers and sensors
• Work from technical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Test, inspect and carefully commission installations according to standards and guidelines
• Work together with project managers, people preparing technical documentation and other installers

What we ask

• No previous experience as an installer needed. What matters more is an interest in technology, a willingness to learn and a sense of responsibility for the quality of your work
• Interest in electrical engineering, security technology or building installations
• Willingness to learn technical drawings, standards and new systems
• A practical attitude and accurate way of working on site
• Ability to work well with colleagues and openness to guidance and feedback
• Willingness to follow training and gain certificates. A category B driving licence is a plus
