About the job

As a rehabilitation equipment adaptation technician, you turn ideas from advisors into practical, durable, custom-made products. One day you adapt a wheelchair, the next you build something that helps a person communicate independently, control their environment, or you fit a seating orthosis.

What you'll do

• Adapt and modify wheelchairs and other assistive devices
• Build solutions that help clients communicate independently and control their living environment
• Fit seating orthoses and other custom products
• Manage and maintain workshop machinery
• Work with a wide range of techniques: woodworking, metalworking, plastics, upholstery and finishing, assembly and construction, light electronics
• Work closely with adaptation advisors and other colleagues
• Develop your own RTD designs and fully custom products, or a combination of both

What we ask

• Technical experience in at least one of these areas: woodworking, metalworking, plastics, upholstery, assembly, or light electronics
• Able to plan and organise your own work
• Able to combine technical skill, creativity, and craftsmanship
• Precise and focused on the needs of the client
